Privacy policy
The short version: your test answers never leave your browser, there are no accounts, and we do not ask for your email address.

What we collect
Exam Sensei is a static website. There is no account system, no login, no registration form and no newsletter sign-up. We do not ask you for your name, email address, phone number or any other personal detail in order to use the site.
Your test answers
When you take a mock test, your answers, your flags and your remaining time are stored in your own browser using localStorage. This is what lets you close the tab and resume an unfinished attempt later.
That data stays on your device. It is not transmitted to us, it is not stored on a server, and we have no way of seeing it. It is not shared between your devices, and clearing your browser data deletes it permanently.
The same applies to your theme preference (light or dark) and to any drafts made in the question editor.
Cookies
Exam Sensei does not set cookies. We use localStorage for the purposes described above, which is a different mechanism and is never transmitted to a server with your requests.
Analytics
The site is built to run without third-party analytics or advertising scripts. If privacy-respecting, cookie-free analytics are introduced in future, this page will be updated before that happens, and the change will be reflected in the date at the top.
Hosting and server logs
The site is served by a static hosting provider. As with any website, the host's servers may automatically record standard request information — IP address, browser user agent, requested URL and timestamp — as part of delivering pages and protecting against abuse.
These logs are generated and controlled by the hosting provider under their own policies. We do not build profiles from them and do not use them to identify individuals.
Links to other sites
We link to official sources such as the JLPT site, the Japan Foundation's JFT-Basic site and Japan's Immigration Services Agency. Those sites have their own privacy policies, which govern what happens once you leave here. We have no control over them.
Children
The site is a study resource suitable for general audiences and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children. Since we collect no personal information at all, there is nothing held about any user of any age.
Your rights
Data-protection law gives you rights to access, correct and delete personal data held about you. Because we hold no personal data about you, there is nothing for us to retrieve or erase — the only data involved is in your own browser, and you can clear it yourself at any time through your browser settings.
If you email us, we will of course hold that email in order to reply to it. If you would like that correspondence deleted, ask and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the revision date at the top of this page will change with it. Material changes — for example, introducing analytics — will be described here rather than made quietly.
